Kristof Nevelsteen joined Merkator NV/SA in April 2014. Kristof graduated in 2007 as a Master in Geography from Leuven University (Belgium). After graduation he started at the University of Leuven as scientific researcher at the Department of Earth and Environmental sciences, where he contributed to mapping and modelling sediment flows in Flemish lowland rivers. Later he joined the spatial research and development division at the University of Leuven (SADL). He contributed to innovative research in the field of traffic and mobility with focus on modelling and analyzing traffic behavior with eye tracking techniques, on this topic he is finalizing a PhD. He was teacher of various ESRI courses and several open source GIS applications. In his final project he offered consultancy for the National Geographic Institute (NGI/IGN) to work out a federal metadata catalogue compliant with the European INSPIRE guidelines.
