A memorable week for Merkator Group in Abu Dhabi
Belgian geospatial innovation on a global level
October 2025 was a milestone for Merkator in Abu Dhabi, where Belgian innovation truly claimed its place on the world stage.
The week began at Geospatial World in the UAE, officially opened by H.E. Antoine Delcourt, Belgian Ambassador to the UAE. His presence and support highlighted the important role Belgian technology companies play in developing smart cities and critical infrastructure worldwide. For Merkator, it was a special moment to showcase how our geospatial solutions contribute to safer streets and better networks—fully in line with our mission.

Start of a mission-critical five-year project
In the same week, Merkator began a mission-critical five-year project with the Ministry of Defense of the UAE. This long-term collaboration focuses on deploying two of our core platforms:
- Eaglebe Smart City Platform – supporting safe, well-coordinated activities in public spaces and complex environments.
- Marlin Digital Twin – providing a powerful digital twin of critical network infrastructure for better planning, operations, and resilience.
Together, these solutions help the Ministry of Defense manage and protect vital assets with geospatial support, making them future-proof.

Esri-enabled geospatial innovation
This project also illustrates the power of Esri-enabled geospatial innovation. By combining Merkator’s domain expertise with leading GIS technology, we deliver integrated solutions that empower organizations to make better, data-driven decisions in real time.

This successful week in Abu Dhabi was made possible thanks to the dedication and expertise of our team and partners, including Marc Bouthé, Mohammad Nemer, Olivier Damanet, Geert De Coensel, Sanjay Kumar and Dave Dionne. Their work on site is crucial for turning ambitious visions into operational reality.
We also extend special thanks to Ambassador Antoine Delcourt for his active support of Belgian software innovations in the region. His commitment is a key driver in connecting Belgian technology with international opportunities.
