Belgian Geo Delegation active at UN summit in New York
Belgian Geo Delegation
Last week, New York and the United Nations headquarters were all about geodata, space, and GIS. During the sessions of UN-GGIM (United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management), geo-experts from around the world came together to work on stable standards and global policies.
The discussions once again highlighted the power of respect and collaboration as the foundation for progress in the geospatial sector.
Belgian contribution stands out
The Belgian delegation made a remarkable contribution. Ingrid Vanden Berghe, co-chair of UN-GGIM, and Joep Crompvoets, together with their team, worked hard to further develop international agreements and regulations. Their efforts show how a small country can play a major role in geospatial innovation and regulation on a global scale.

Geospatial World Forum 2026 announced
During the meetings in New York, the next edition of the Geospatial World Forum (GWF) was officially announced. The event will take place in Amsterdam from April 28 to May 1, 2026.
Thanks to the efforts of Sanjay Kumar and his team, GWF has grown into a global meeting point where governments and the private sector have been successfully connecting for many years.
