Use Case – Fluvius & SIGGIS – GIS Innovation and Consolidation

Geplaatst op 15 December 2025 door Liesbeth De Ryck

Challenge

Fluvius is responsible for the distribution of gas and electricity in Flanders. With an extensive network and a growing need for digitalization, Fluvius faced the challenge of modernizing and consolidating its GIS support. The existing systems were fragmented and required an integrated, future-proof solution for application development, business analysis, data migration, and infrastructure management.

Approach

For over 15 years, SIGGIS has supported Fluvius with a wide range of GIS services. Together, the teams developed GIS web viewers, geodatabases, and a mobile GIS application for the management and maintenance of essential assets within the distribution network. SIGGIS played a key role in the migration and consolidation of various graphic and geographic systems into a single powerful platform, based on ArcGIS and Utility Network. Additionally, an innovative application was developed that allows citizens to visualize their heat loss through the roof.

Result

Thanks to the collaboration with SIGGIS, Fluvius now has a modern, integrated, and scalable GIS platform. This not only supports the daily management and maintenance of the network but also enables sustainable energy management and citizen participation. The future-proof solution ensures greater efficiency, improved data quality, and a strong foundation for further digitalization and innovation in Flemish energy distribution.
