Use Case: Elia Streamlines GIS Processes with Phased Migration and Integration

Elia Transmission Belgium manages the Belgian high-voltage grid from 30 to 400 kV, spanning nearly 9,000 kilometers. During the migration of its (geo)graphic solutions, Elia chose to first migrate the front-end web application without altering the back-end systems. SIGGIS accomplished this using VertiGIS tools Integrator and Geocortex Essentials (now VertiGIS Studio), resulting in the eGIS application.

This application connects various other systems through GIS, including a document management system and asset management in SAP. This was achieved by linking from the GIS to these applications (and vice versa), as well as by integrating windows from external applications within the GIS.

In 2023, Elia also decided to entrust the migration of the back-end systems to SIGGIS, which involves a complete transition from Microstation to ArcGIS Pro.
