What does Geo Utility stand for?
What are professional services?
Merkator GeoUtility division is specialized in SUPPORTING and ENHANCING geospatial workflows for telecom and utilities. Often on-site, we develop, configure and support IT-systems for network design and physical inventory.
Those systems are critical for the daily operations of any utility network: think CUSTOMER PROVISIONING , SAFETY, AND DATA EXCHANGE to SEVERAL GOVERNMENT LAYERS. These systems are commonly interconnected with other business systems in a continuously evolving IT landscape.
Our consultants develop and secure webservices, geographic business intelligence systems, data warehousing and ETL
(Extract-Transform-Load) procedures.
our daily CHALLENGE
Solutions enabling these core activities evolve, together with a a fast-moving software landscape and numerous changes in the energy and telco market.
This implies a daily focus on:
STABILITY
SECURITY
DATA QUALITY
VALIDATION & AUTOMATION
But also enabling network engineers to focus on their specialty: designing, maintaining and organizing their asset infrastructures.
understanding our customers
Working in mixed and cross-vendor teams, we ensure on-time and continuous delivery. We offer daily operational support, assist our customer's OPS teams to keep systems online, even during complex migrations and system updates.
Our staff thinks together with the customer, achieving at the technical level, the balance between development effort, key architectural qualities and business requirements.

At the functional level, we mind the diverse profiles of end users and stakeholders, ranging from data entry, over future developers, to business intelligence.
our people
SPECIALIZATION
Most of our teams include developers, analysts, a team or scrum master, testers, an architect, and a release manager. Some colleagues go for a full stack development career, touching on a diverse set of technologies. Others specialize in database development, frontend technologies like Angular, or backend webservices.
ARCHITECTS
Architects overlook the continuously evolving IT landscape and provide input in functional and technical designs, data models, security, interfaces, and pipelines.
ANALYSTS
Analysts cover technical, functional and / or business analysis and often have a pivotal role in test organization. Daily work requires close collaboration, between our own colleagues, with OPS teams, with business stakeholders and with management. IT is often more about people than about hardware and software.
RELEASE MANAGER
Our release managers organize the communication between OPS, development, test, and business stakeholders, tightly managing all the required release activities and approvals.
SCRUM
Team and scrum managers keep the team together and moving forward. They mix soft skills with organizational skills and administrative skills.
